1. What Viewpoint Is
Viewpoint is an iOS app that helps users understand claims made in viral videos. You share a video link from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook Reels, or Snapchat. We extract claims, analyze them using AI and public sources, and return a structured breakdown with verdicts and citations. Every analysis receives a unique public URL that anyone can view.
2. Information We Collect
Account & Authentication Information
We use Sign in with Apple. We store Apple's stable user identifier (apple_sub). We request name and email scopes from Apple on first sign-in, but we only store the apple_sub. We do not persist your email or full name for login purposes (email is only stored if you separately join our waitlist). If you enable push notifications, we store your APNs device token. The app may register for remote notifications at launch. We also store your IANA timezone for streak tracking.

Content & Analysis Data
For every analysis we store the original video URL, full transcript, selected keyframe images (base64), the complete analysis result (claims, verdicts, sources), and a CDN media URL when available.
Device Permissions
- Photos Library: If you choose to save an analysis card to your Photos, the app requests permission to write to your photo library.
Technical Data
- APNs device token (for remote push notifications)
- Short-lived job data in Redis (automatically deleted after processing)
What We Do NOT Collect
- Email or name for login (only apple_sub)
- Passwords
- IDFV or other device identifiers for tracking or rate limiting
- Precise location
- Full original video files as permanent blobs
3. How We Use Your Information

History Search: When you search your analysis history, the query is sent to our servers. Embeddings and similarity search run on the server (not on-device).
4. Public URLs and Sharing
Every analysis gets a unique public URL. Public analyses remain accessible even after you delete your account. While your account is active we internally link analyses to you; after deletion that link is removed. We may show real public analyses in community and trending feeds.
5. The Honest Creator Program (Planned)
We are developing the Honest Creator Program to share anonymized, aggregated insights about misinformation trends with media literacy creators and researchers. Public trending and community feeds are already live. The full program for sharing aggregated insights externally is planned for a future release and is not yet active. When launched, it will only use aggregated, anonymized data — never your apple_sub, individual analyses, or any identifying information.

Key points:
- Purchases are verified by our backend via StoreKit, not through RevenueCat.
- OpenRouter may receive limited individual analysis history only to generate personalized paywall/marketing copy for that user.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
- We do not sell personal information.
7. Ask AI Feature
The "Ask AI" feature prepares the full transcript, claims, and keyframes from an analysis and lets you send it to a third-party AI app of your choice (via the iOS share sheet). We do not control or have access to what happens in that external app.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Account deletion is immediate. We permanently remove your user record and all data linked to your apple_sub (analyses you created, credits, badges, transactions, referrals, etc.). Public analyses and their associated transcripts, keyframes, and results remain publicly accessible because they are no longer linked to any account.
9. Data Storage and Security
All persistent data is stored on encrypted servers. We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
10. Notifications
The app supports both local notifications (generated on-device) and remote push notifications via APNs. A device token may be obtained when the app registers for notifications.
11. Children's Privacy
Viewpoint is not intended for children under 13.
12. International Users
Our servers are in the United States. By using Viewpoint you consent to your data being processed in the United States and by the third parties listed above.
13. Your Rights
You can request access to or deletion of your personal information by emailing veiwpoint.tech@gmail.com. Public analyses cannot be deleted once they are no longer linked to an account.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email.
